smallfry 2007 GSM Feb 09

One hundred and fifty cases have been produced; sealed under screwcap, it costs $28 a bottle form the winery. The bouquet is sweet and fruit driven with menthol, a hint of iodine, and white pepper. Unobtrusive, fine, dusty tannins combine with fresh acid and deep, ripe fruit to form a well proportioned wine that sits well in the mouth. It’s lovely and sweet on the uptake with contrasting off-sweet and savoury characters kicking in quickly. The finish is long, intense, and clean, and has excellent intensity for its medium weight. The consistency is almost soft making it far too easy to drink. The warmth is noticeable, but is within my tolerance. Rated as Recommended with **** for value, the rating should improve in the short term. Drink over the next six years.
