smallfry 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon June 08 sells the $28 and is sealed under screwcap. The bouquet shows loads of menthol, dark chocolate, mushroom oak and is broody. Fine dusty tannins combine with pure fruit and unobtrusive acid to form a clean, modern, well-made, ample-weight wine. It has a supple consistency, a very tight structure and is harmoniously balanced. On the uptake it's off sweet with slightly sour cherry dominating proceedings, as well as blackberry, milk chocolate and slightly-charred oregano and coffee oak flavours; it finishes with respectable length. It needs time for the fruit to absorb the oak and is Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value, the wine should be in its peak drinking window between 2012 and 2018.
