Zema Estate 2004 Cluny May08 sells for $20 at cellar door and is sealed under screwcap. This wine has never been my favourite in the Zema line-up, but this particular example really impressed me. The bouquet showed sweet cherry, milk chocolate and tobacco leaf, and as it opened up dark black fruit emerged together with cedar. A harmonious, medium-weight wine with a soft consistency that is well backed by silky, slightly powdery tannins and driven by pure fruit. It's bright and attractive on the palate and easy drinking. The ripe juicy fruit is cleaned up by the fresh and bright acid. It's a good food wine and is almost seamless already. Drink over the next four years, its rated as Recommended with *** for value.
