Zema Estate 2003 Cluny May 07

A brooding bouquet is showing sawdust oak notes with dark berry fruits and an almost fish like character. Unobtrusive powdery tannins combine with balanced acid, and whilst it is fruit driven, it is well backed. The palate is attractive showing sweet and sour characters with good interaction between them; blackcurrant, milk chocolate and sour cherry flavours are dominant. Just ample in weight, the consistency is supple, and the structure is solid and reasonably tight. With an agreeable complexity, there is nothing wrong with this one; it’s very drinkable. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, its $20 direct from the winery. Sealed with a screwcap.
