Zema Estate 2001 Family Selection Cabernet Sauvignon PlonkOz04

The one regret that I have about this wine was that I probably had it too early in the day, or as it was just after the Odyssey I did not appreciate it as much as I should have but when typing up this tasting note, its sheer quality and value came back to me. When I tasted the wine, the first words I wrote were, "sensational mouth feel and fruit." Pure, top quality fruit and smooth tannins produce a firm, supple consistency, a solid, layered and tight as a drum structure and a sophisticated, harmonious complexity. A true ample-weight Coonawarra Cabernet in every respect, the sweet uptake immediately turns off-sweet and finished with sweetness and a mild herbaceous note. Rated as Excellent with **** for value, the wine should show its best in 2010+.
