Yelland and Pappas 2007 Barossa Valley Shiraz Feb 09

A single vineyard wine sourced from vines that were planted about 30+ years ago. Noticeably spicy, cedary oak over blackberry, blackcurrant, with vanilla on the tail are replicated from the bouquet to the palate. As well as the dominant oak flavours, the palate also showed a very noticeable amount of sappy green character. Unobtrusive, fine tannins solidly support the firm structure. Very much a product of the vintage, I am not sure if this will age well at all. Rated as Agreeable with ** for value, it is sealed under screwcap and retails for $19.95.
