Yearing Station 2001 Shiraz
Viognier
Oct 04
Judging by other peoples comments I have seen since tasting
this wine, it is possible the wine I tried was not truly representative. The
bouquet showed little impact from the Viognier with mushroom compost over ripe
berries. The wine has excellent structure, mouth feel and balance; tannins are
smooth and silky and the fruit distinct. Medium-weight, the consistency is
supple, the structure seamless and the complexity diverse. The wine has
everything going for it except the flavour profile which slammed the tongue with
a hit of green and ripe blackcurrant. Rated as Agreeable with ** for value
purely because I could not get past the flavour.
