Yearing Station 2001 Pinot
Oct 04
Light bouquet showing strawberry, cherry and mushroom with a
little Pinot pong on the tail. With more then enough smooth, dusty tannins to
hold the wine together, the consistency is firm but the structure is short.
Flavour profile is "interesting" with both sweet and bitter characters but I am
not sure about the ripeness, there seems to be a little unripe grape character
or possibly it is new vines showing itself. On the positive side of the ledger,
the wine has reasonable intensity and persistence. It is a lean wine with a firm
consistency, and diverse complexity. Rated as Agreeable with ** for value.
