Yearing Station 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Oct 04

Varietal cabernet bouquet with smoky chary oak. Smooth, drying tannins, fresh, crisp acid and pure fruit combine to form a well structured and balanced wine. weight is medium, the consistency is firm but supple, there is some elegance to the structure and the complexity is harmonious. If you like smoky, chary oak then you should like this wine but to my taste, the excellent fruit is overshadowed by the oak treatment. Although it is drinking well now, it will be long lived and I have put my oak prejudice aside with the rating. Recommended with *** for value, it should gain further complexity as it matures.
