Yarra Yarra 2002 Cabernets PlonkOz04

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot; the bouquet is subtle and harmonious with nothing standing out. Very fine-grained, dusty tannins, youthful acid and deep, persistent fruit produced an excellent structure for this medium-weight, firm, solid wine that is both elegant and tight. The palate is typically Cabernet, the sweet, but not too sweet blackcurrant fruit has a slightly sour finish and although it is attractive, it's a baby that needs time to build complexity. It should peak around 2009+ and is rated as Highly Recommended with ** for value.
