Yalumba 1997 The Signature August 04

A complex nose showing smoke, it is earthy and medicinal with enough VA or menthol to clear the nose but it also has some obvious sweet fruit, overall it is quite inviting.

Full bodied with smooth powdery tannins, unobtrusive acid and distinct fruit, the wine is a good result from the vintage. Mouth filling flavours of blackberry, plum, chocolate, iodine, mint and smoky mushroom oak have good length and persistence. Damn enjoyable with excellent complexity, it is rated as Excellent and should hold for some years.
