Wynns 1996 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Jan 05

I think I may be howled down in flames here by others but I can only call them the way I see them in the bottle. The nose was heavily dominated by dusty oak, cigar box, tobacco leaf. mint and sweet berry fruit below. The palate is similar and follows the nose with loads of oak and finishes with puckering, drying chewy tannins that suck the cheeks in with bilge pump ferocity. Certainly in this bottle, I doubt the fruit will ever be up to the task and will fade before the wine becomes harmonious. Considering the vintage conditions, this one was disappointing and starting to dry out. Rated as Agreeable.
