Wynns 1994 John Riddoch Feb 06

A classically ripe Coonawarra Cabernet, it showed sweet cassis/blackberry, cigar box, mint and a touch of herbaceous character. Marion said, "A delicious smelling wine with terrific depth, and its mellow." Loads of drying tannins still over the fruit; fresh acid, but it needs more time for the deeply-seated, pure fruit to punch through; but it was still most enjoyable. Off-sweet blackcurrant with a trickling layer of cassis below; it finishes long and dry and was a terrific match with roast lamb. Rated as Excellent; I'll give the rest of the six pack of another few years.
