Wise 2001 Donnybrook Bordeaux Blend PlonkOz04

A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot; the bouquet shows a varietal Cabernet notes with some interesting nuances. Smooth tannins, youthful acid and concentrated fruit deliver an off-sweet attack which immediately goes into sweet cassis and milk chocolate. Almost lean in weight, the consistency is firm and although the complexity is agreeable, it is a good food wine and would be perfect in a bistro situation. Thus drunk over the next three years its rated as Recommended with *** for value.
