Whistler 2002 Cabernet Merlot Feb 04

A bright fruit driven nose with blackcurrant, subtle perfumed notes milk chocolate and cedar, the nose is in sync with the bright purple hue of the wine. The more the glass is swirled, the more complexity the bouquet exhibited and I really doubt this brief look at the wine will show its true colours and potential. Beautiful youthful savoury plum, blackberry fruit and milk chocolate with a fair intensity combine with unobtrusive acid and drying fine grained dusty tannins to counter the sweet underlying flavours in a layered well developed harmonious structure. Ample in weight, this wine will improve over the next five years and is currently rated as Recommended with **** for value (at only $19) and is certainly worth cellaring. Once again, the nature of the wine demands another sip.
