Warrabilla 2005 Parolas Cabernet July 06

I really enjoyed the previous vintage of both the two Cabernets and was particularly looking forward to trying this wine. Loads of spicy oak, plum cake it is tight and brooding. An obvious step up in quality over the Reserve, the fruit is higher quality and it is better balanced. Dusty tannins and fresh but controlled acid support the distinct, strong fruit that delivers coffee, black spectrum fruits including off-sweet blackcurrant and aniseed; this rock solid, full-bodied wine finishes with good length and persistence and whilst it is very drinkable now, the rating of Recommended with **** for value should improve as the wine matures over the next five years.
