Vinrock 2004 Shiraz October 05

Complex spice, flint, sweet berry, plum, smoky oak and subtle perfumed violets are found on the bouquet. An easy-drinking red with loads of flavour, much of the coffee character coming from the oak; there is also attractive chocolate and a touch of Oriental spice. On the plus side, the wine finishes with reasonable persistence, but it is a little dull and there is a slight metallic hint. It's not bad drinking, but it would have been more attractive had the fruit had been better. Rated as Agreeable.
