Vinrock 2004 Grenache October 05

A producer from McLaren Vale but I am unfamiliar with. The bouquet exhibits smoky oak and cold meat over sweet fruit with a menthol lift and a touch of pepper. On the uptake, there is a distinct green, unripe edged to the wine; it is savoury, almost sour, showing bacon, chocolate, coffee, raspberry, more bacon, a peppery character and it finishes a touch bitter. Ample-weight, the consistency is supple and the tannins smooth. Rated as Acceptable.
