Seppelt 2006 Mount Ida Shiraz VicFeb08 is sealed under screwcap and is scheduled to be released on 31 March. The bouquet is very similar in style to the previous wine but shows malty oak. The rich, ripe, savoury fruit is fantastic and is impeccably balanced and matched to the youthful acid and drying, dusty tannins. Ample-weight, it is tight, elegant, layered, and harmonious and manages to show restraint. Rated as Excellent with *** for value, the rating may improve as the wine matures and enters its peak drinking window.
