Veronique 2005 Shiraz Nov 06

The wine has been made by Domenic Torzi, for Peter Manning, from fruit sourced from three different Barossa vineyards. It is sealed under screwcap and sells for $23 a bottle. For a wine of this price, the bouquet is captivating with a good combination between sweet and off-sweet aromas, with cedar, subtle tar/liquorice and milk chocolate. Tight, unobtrusive tannins combine with crisp acid and strong, persistent fruit to form a well-balanced and well constructed wine. Blackberry, loads of pepper, plum, liquorice, coffee, and mint on the finish; it lingers well. The flavour profile is almost completely black but it is not at all overripe. A very drinkable wine, it is approachable now but will be better with a few years in the bottle. Muscular-wait with a supple consistency, solid structure it’s harmonious and the complexity is agreeable. Rated as Recommended with **** for value, it’s easy drinking and great value.
