Veritas 1999 Hanisch
April 05
A touch of VA which blew off after an hour in the decanter;
the bouquet was dominated by coconut; sweet fruits including plums and
blackberry were evident and the coffee aroma was just like breakfast time. When
the wine was initially tasted, the palate showed large amounts of coconut but
over time, it lessened in intensity and the off-sweet fruit came up in
proportion to the oak with rich chocolate and a river of sweet plum ran below.
Tannins have been well managed and the wine is in perfect balance, provide you
are not adverse to oak. A full-bodied wine that finished with excellent
persistence and intensity, it is rated as Excellent
and should continue to improve in the short term and then will hold for some
time.
