Turkey Flat 2006 Grenache Dec 07

The attractive, expressive bouquet shows a touch of VA with a meaty, spicy aspect (clove and cinnamon), perfumed violet fruits and shoe polish. Powdery tannins combine with noticeably fresh acid to back a medium-weight, firm and solid wine. Intensely sour cherry (off-sweet) dominates the palate but there is a sweet secondary layer of milk chocolate and pepper below. Sealed with a screwcap and costing $22 from the winery, it needs a big decant to show its true character and should improve in the bottle for some time; rated as Recommended with *** for value.
