Turkey Flat 2006 Butchers Block Dec 07

The nose is broody but I was able to coax vanilla, meat and hints of spicy. It’s deceptive as it appears to be fruit driven but it is well backed by unobtrusive, dusty tannins. This medium-weight, supple wine with a solid structure and well developed complexity is most enjoyable and is food friendly. Strong fruit delivers blackberry, liquorice, plum and blueberry flavours that finishes with good persistence, and has good power for its weight. Rated as Recommended with **** for value, drink over the next seven years. Sealed with a screwcap and costing $22.50 from the winery, it needs time in a decanter to open up.
