Turkey Flat 1998 Shiraz
July 04
Despite having two hours in the decanter, the wine was
brooding and showing little below its skirts but there was some blackberry, plum,
and mocha.
The palate was a whole different story. The first thing that
strikes you about the wine is the long, incredibly persistent finish. Ample in
weight, it is extremely concentrated and choc full of flavor, blackberry, plum,
and rich chocolate. Tannins are fine but still need further time to integrate. Rated
as Excellent, this should have a long future ahead of itself.
