Trevor Jones 2004 Dry Grown Barossa Shiraz Nov 07

The wine is sealed with a screwcap. The bouquet shows nutmeg and vanillin oak, sweet black fruits together with off-sweet notes, chocolate and pepper. Tight, unobtrusive, powdery tannins combine with fresh acid and deep fruit to form a muscular-weight, supple, solid wine where nothing in the structure sticks out. The flavour profile is pleasant as long as you don't mind toasted, coffee oak characters, but in time, there is enough dark plum and blackberry fruit to absorb the oak. The clean, sour cherry acid flavoured finish has good persistence. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, the rating will improve around 2011 as the wine matures, but those who are tolerant to coffee oak will rate it higher now.
