Torzi Mathews 2006 Frost Dodger Shiraz June 08 sells for $30 and is sealed under screwcap. The wine has an incredibly attractive nose with spice, chocolate, cinnamon and bubblegum. A cleverly-crafted wine with pure, deeply-seated fruit that is perfectly framed by chalky, fine, chewy tannins that comes together to create a harmonious package. Chocolate, bubblegum, and Dutch cocoa flavours are off-sweet and finish on a very-long, persistent finish that has excellent intensity for it's muscular-weight. The wine has a supple consistency, a reasonably tight structure and is probably the best to date under this label. It's approachable now but will improve and is Rated as Highly Recommended with **** for value, but the rating should improve as the wine peaks over the next 10+ years. Simply put, it is yummy. This is right up there with the 2004. At that price, it's insanity not to buy any.
