Torbreck 2003 The Descendants PlonkOz04

A single vineyard, 100% Shiraz showing typical fragrant Torbreck characters; it is incredibly tight and not showing as much as it no doubt will. The wine has class, structure and deep, concentrated fruit - all the components necessary to make a great wine. Coffee, chocolate, mocker, black fruits and mint are dominated by mouth numbing tannins but there is enough buried fruit to provide the necessary balance and finish with fantastic persistence that lasts into the minutes. A full-bodied, with a sophisticated complexity, it is firm and as tight and unyielding as a cricket box. Rated as Excellent with *** for value it would probably peaked around 2012+. As an aside, it is no slouch in comparison to the Run Rig but the tannins are not as fine and it is also a year younger.
