Tim Adams 1998 Cabernet
Sauvignon Aug 05
The bottle opened with some bottle stink; with a short
splash in the decanter and it blew off leaving smoky oak, iodine and black fruit
dominating the bouquet. Tannins have resolved beautifully and whilst they
provide a rock-solid backbone, they are unobtrusive and are perfectly matched to
the intense fruit and refreshing acid. Its intensely off-sweet with a little
underling sweetness running through the palate, most of the flavours are in the
black spectrum. As it opened up it took on mare varietal definition. A muscular-weight wine that is well
constructed and balanced, it is rated as Highly Recommended and it’s a pity
there are not more wines this good at the price. Its in its drinking window but
should last for some years.
