Thomson Estate 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
PlonkOz04
The
first vintage of this wine, it is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.5%
Cabernet Franc and 7.5% Merlot; it sells for just over $33 a bottle. The bouquet
was dusty, somewhat sedate, and the fruit seemed to be reasonable. Tannins are
smooth and as a result the blackcurrant, chocolate, cigar box, mint and tomato
leaf flavours which come from pure fruit has a good mouth feel and just glides
down. Ample-weight, the consistency is supple, the complexity is well developed
and the wine is in clean and well balanced. Easy to drink now, this wine is
worth buying and should best be drunk over the next five years, it is rated as
Highly Recommended with ***
for value.
