Tahbilk 2001 Cabernet
Sauvignon Oct 04
The bottle had just been opened and the nose was brooding but
did exhibit earthy mushroom characters and perfumed berries. Medium in weight,
the tannins are unobtrusive but there are more then enough to provide a solid
backbone and firm, layered consistency for this medium-weight wine. The initial
sweet strawberry hit is off-set by contrasting off-sweet red current flavour and
acid. There is also a little bitterness to the finish but it is not
unattractive. Not overly complex or long, it is a good drinking red that is
rated as Recommended with *** for value.
