Summerfield 2005 Shiraz July 07

The bouquet was fairly unrevealing despite loads of air time in the glass, but I was finally able to coax black cherry, plum and subtle spices. A well-balanced, clean and solidly built, ample-weight wine that is well backed by unobtrusive, dusty tannins; it has a supple consistency and a well developed complexity. The palate has an attractive profile with dark fruit flavours of plum, cherry, hints of pepper and other spices with long tannins supporting the finish. A very drinkable wine, it's approachable now but should improve in the short term and then hold for some years. Rated as Recommended with *** for value; the wine is sealed under screwcap.
