Summerfield 2004 Tradition Aug 06

The wine is a Bordeaux blend with the addition of 24% Shiraz. The bouquet shows sweet vanillin oak with hints of savoury white pepper, multiple dark spectrum fruit and tobacco. An ample-weight wine that is driven by perfectly ripe, deeply-seated fruit and abundant dusty tannins; its firm, solid and has a diverse complexity. The flavour profile whilst black is just lovely; plum, chocolate, pepper, blackcurrant, blackberry finishing to tobacco; the savoury top layer dominates the slight sweetness below. A very yummy, modern wine that is highly drinkable; it can do with about four years in the cellar and is rated as Recommended with **** for value. The wine is sealed under screwcap and sells for $23 from the winery.
