Summerfield 2004 Cabernet Aug
06
A brooding and earthy bouquet showing toasted oak, black fruit and mint. A
well-made, well-constructed wine that is already showing signs of harmony;
perfectly ripe fruit combine with unobtrusive, smooth but sufficient powdery
tannins to form an ample-weight wine with a supple consistency and agreeable
complexity. Toasted oak, aniseed, abundant mint, black fruits, cassis, and lots
of chocolate flavours are primarily off-sweet but there is a little sweetness
below the surface; the whole package finishes clean and dry with tobacco/herb
like characters. Whilst it easy to drink and a very enjoyable now, it will
improve in the short term; it's rated as Recommended with *** for value.
Decanting for an hour or so is recommended; the wine is sealed under screwcap
and sells for $23 from the winery.
