Schubert 2005 The Lone Goose Nov 07

This wine has been made for the Malaysian market only and is not available in Australia. The brooding bouquet showed hints of the 3% Viognier early on, but then opened up to reveal plum, cedar and coffee. Slightly sweet on the uptake, the palate is dominated by off-sweet characters with plum, cherry, chocolate and chary/mocha oak that finishes with reasonable length and persistence. Ample-weight and backed by smooth, slightly sappy tannins and with a supple consistency, it’s solid, very agreeable and easy to knock back. Rated as Recommended with *** for value. Sealed under screwcap; drink over the next six years. Make sure it gets a big decant if consuming young because being sealed with a screwcap, it takes some time to show its true character.
