Schubert 2005 The Gosling Nov 07

Cedary, subtly spiced oak dominates the sweet, dark fruits on the bouquet. Solidly backed by unobtrusive, silky, dusty tannins which combines with the fresh acid to balance the pure fruit; its ample-weight, with a supple consistency, solid structure and agreeable complexity. The palate shows multiple levels of sweet and off-sweet characters, and primarily black flavours, that are inextricably locked together and frame the slightly-spiced, chary, coffee oak, milk chocolate, liquorice and mint flavours which finish long. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, it may improve in the short term as the oak is sopped up and then it will hold for sometime. Sealed under screwcap, if it going to be consumed young, it needs a very big decant.
