Sam Miranda 2004 Sparkling Shiraz Durif Nov 08

Loads of fine bubbles! The bouquet shows earthy, spicy notes with an almost plastic like spectrum character below. The fruit seems to be good-quality but it lacks a little vitality. That may just be the Durif character. It maintains reasonable intensity for its medium weight. Sweet red fruit quickly turn off-sweet with mulberry flavours on the mid-palate, and intense blackberry on the finish, as well as some herbal characters running through the palate; it finishes with good persistence. A solid, uncomplicated, very easy-drinking wine that is ideally suited to a hot summer day. Drink over the next five years, its sealed under a Diam and is $30 from the winery. Rated as Recommended with *** for value.
