Rivergate 2004 Bendigo Shiraz Nov 08
The elegant, reticence bouquet showed sweet fruit, some earthy notes and lightly
spiced oak. It is a medium-weight, supple but solid wine that is backed by fine,
dusty tannins. There is a hint of black pepper on the uptake with coffee oak
dominating the flavour profile, with blackberry characters below; there are
hints of sweetness on the palate, but it is mainly savoury. The tart character
may come from the acid, or could be from some unripe fruit. Rated as Acceptable
with ** for value, drink now; it's sealed under cork and has an RRP of $22.
