Raw Power 2006 Shiraz Oct 08

The bouquet exhibited very sweet underlying notes that reminded me a little bit of Grenache, but it also had off-setting spicy notes including nutmeg. The palate was a surprise. Savoury on the uptake, the fruit delivers intense flavour for its medium-weight. A black flavour profile wine, with loads of aniseed, jammy blackberry, black chocolate, and bubblegum flavours, it finishes with a hint of bitterness. The fruit is strong and deep and the consistency is soft. A very easy-drinking party wine, and whilst it doesn't have a lot of complexity or length, it's cuddly and fantastic value. Another winner from Dominic Torzi; its rated as Agreeable with **** for value. Sealed under screwcap, at $13.99 a bottle you can afford a case. It certainly does have some power!
