Punt Road 2002 Shiraz
Oct 04
My first visit to this winery and I must say I was happy to
be greeted by Alli, formerly of Fox Creek, who is one of the bubbliest cellar
door people around. Attractive perfumed nose of sweet and floral cherry and
strawberry fruits, (the wine not Alli.) A well balanced and well constructed
wine with smooth drying tannins, pure delicate fruit and acid that was
unobtrusive but crisp. The well controlled acid cuts through the sweet plum and
spicy fruit which finishes earthy and dry. Just medium in weight, the
consistency is supple and the complexity harmonious. A nice, good quality
lighter style of wine that has been well made, it is rated as
Recommended with *** for value. The pick of the
wines tasted at this winery which is unusual for a Shiraz from the Yarra.
