Port Phillip 2001 Estate Reserve Shiraz Aug 03

An unusual nose for a Shiraz with some Cabernet like characters; it shows spice, dusty oak, black fruit and green notes.

The balance is good with fine grained tannins, youthful acid and enough fruit to complete the package. Pepper, chocolate, dark berry and tobacco flavours are attractive. A mid weight wine with a good intensity of fruit but it finished a bit short with nothing on the back palate.
