Peter Rumball Sparkling Shiraz
Oct 04
As I walked up to the stand, I saw the Sparkling Shiraz was
being served in an ice bucket and as any knowledgeable lover of Sparkling Shiraz
will know, if you serve the wine at four degrees you wind up killing the subtle
nuances of the wine. Why wineries insist on this barbaric practice is beyond me,
well it was before now. I love good FRS but cannot abide the NutraSweet lolly
water that is often found at the low cost end of the market but sometimes this
maker can produce a very drinkable wine, unfortunately this disgorgement was not
one of them. It was sickly sweet with some savoury characters that finished back
to raspberry lolly water. Rated as Agreeable, now I know what they chose to
serve this almost frozen, it would have been less attractive at the correct
temperature.
