Peter Rumball 1997 Show Sparkling Shiraz Oct 04

This wine is due to be released in 2007. The bouquet was unusual for a Sparkling Shiraz, it was fragrant, spicy and showed French oak characters. Palate follows the nose with a very sweet underlying base layer that dominates the spicy uptake and it finishes with drying oak tannins. Medium in weight, there is some elegance to the wine but I am not sure if the fruit will hold up to the oak. Rated as Recommended.
