Petaluma 2001 Coonawara
PlonkOz04
This is one of my every year staple buys without a second
thought so I was interested to see what I had in the cellar.
A typical Coonawarra Cabernet nose with very attractive
multiple berry fruits in the drivers seat. Well, it appears that way till you
take a sip and the balance between pure, deep fruit, unobtrusive acid and the
smooth, drying tannins becomes apparent, indeed this is a classy wine with some
elegance that will be long lived. Sweet cassis on the uptake with other berry
mid palate sweetness goes to sensational Lindt 70% chocolate that finishes dry.
Ample-weight with a firm, supple consistency, the structure is already
harmonious and should become seamless in time, its a lovely morish wine. Rated
as Highly Recommended with *** for value,
the rating is bound to go up as the wine matures around 2010 and beyond.
