Orlando 2001 Trilogy Aug 2003
The wine exhibits a lifted slightly volatile aroma showing
attractive dark berry fruit, chocolate, floral notes, a hint of cedar and
subtle mint.
On the palate the wine is very youthful with dominant
powdery tannins, zesty acid and balanced mid weight fruit that will be much
better with some time in the bottle. Flavour profile is complex and has an
initial savour sour cherry, chocolate and finishing to a green tomato leaf flavour
all underpinned by a flow of subtle sweetness across the plate which finishes
with drying tannins. A well made food friendly wine that will be better in a
couple of years. It’s styled as a ‘cool climate wine’ and is true to that
characteristic. Rated as Agreeable with **** for value now, the rating will
improve as the wine comes together.
