Orlando 1996 Centenary Hill Shiraz Sept 05

he bouquet is dominated by coconut oak, dark berry fruit, chocolate and dill which is faithfully replicated on the palate. The wine was a little disappointing as initially on release, it had magnificent fruit but at this stage of its life, the fruit is flavour little and the oak is taking over. Muscular-weight, the tannins are resolving well; the fruit is good and the wine finishes with good persistence and length. As the wine opened up, the fruit started to emerge a bit more from under the oak and is improved considerably. Rated as Highly Recommended it will be interesting to see what happens to the wine as it matures further, if the oak dissipate to all the fantastic, if the fruit fades it will not be a good look.
