Old Mill Estate 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Feb 08

This vintage has been made by John Glaetzer, is made from Langhorne Creek fruit, sealed under screwcap and sells for $24. The bouquet is more restrained and tighter than the previous vintage and shows dark berry fruit, nutmeg and mocha. Whilst it is not as varietal as the previous vintage, it's incredibly tight and needs time to show its best. Fine tannins combine with fresh acid and back this solid, muscular wine that has a black flavour profile. It shows mulberry/blackberry, mint, chocolate, tar, espresso coffee; the eucalyptus and nutmeg finish completes the profile. Rated as Recommended with *** for value, the rating may improve as the wine matures around 2012 and beyond.
