Old Mill Estate 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Feb 08

Made from Langhorne Creek fruit, the wine is sealed under screwcap and retails for $24. The bouquet on this wine punches dusty tannins into the nostrils together with blackberry, eucalyptus and a hint of spicy oak. On the palate, the juicy fruit is a surprise and is well matched to the abundant, smooth, fine, dusty tannins and crisp acid. Eucalyptus, tar, blackberry, dark chocolate, and cigar box characters finish with spice; the wine shows real varietal character. It's full-bodied, firm, and solid and has an agreeable complexity. It's approachable now but should improve. Rated as Recommended with *** for value.
