Mountadam 2002 Barossa Shiraz
June 04
This bottle was given to me by my mate Tom to try. It
retails for about $18. The VA blew off very quickly and the bouquet was then
“lifted” and was dominated by ultra sweet blackberry fruit, spice (nutmeg like
characters), and chocolate. Very sweet uptake is pleasantly offset by pepper,
spice, chocolate, tar and tomato leaf characters. It has enough tannin to hold
it together but is certainly ready to drink now. Uncomplicated, it’s a good
crowd pleaser that provided a big bank for buck, both in terms of fruit density
and value. Rated as Recommended with **** for value.
