Mountadam 2001 The Red
PlonkOz04
This wine seems a lot more
restrained than the DW Shiraz but also shows good floral characters. A typical
Eden Valley Cabernet, it exhibits blueberry, mint, chocolate and coffee which
finishes long and dry. Abundant, drying, dusty tannins combined with fresh acid
and distinct fruit to form a well-balanced, medium -weight solid wine with an
intricate complexity that has some class to it. It needs time for the tannins to
integrate but it is well made and worthy of consideration. Rated as
Highly Recommended with *** for value, it
should peak in around 2009.
