Mountadam 1998 The Red October 05

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the wine is developing beautifully and although it has lost its first fresh blush of youth, it has not taken on any aged characteristics. Although the tannins are resolving beautifully and have softened significantly, the wine is rock-solid and will last. Mid-weight, the flavour complexity is well above average; there is nothing sweet about it, sour cherry, strong aniseed, a touch of mint, cigar box, iced tea and blackberry. When I first tried this wine, I had hoped that it be turned into something good, and it looks like it will. Rated as Excellent.
